NONDESTRUCTIVE PROSPECTION
Settlement ruins like the well-known Tells (Arabic for “hill”, Turkish: “tepe”) are the main characteristics of the Near Eastern archaeology. They were built up in layers through millennia.
Each layer represents a settlement and building period. The nondestructive prospection of those extensive and very complex structures requires a specific combination of geophysical methods and topographic survey.
